Anne Marie Lindor
Everything canceled out
Sitting around a dining table
in the busiest restaurant in town
like any normal Sunday evening.
Cars passing by, dogs barking,
people chattering, forks clicking
against plates.
All of this happening around us,
yet all I could focus on is you.
All I could hear was our breath and the
wave of wind against the windows—
It was the most beautiful
quiet I've been in.
It wasn't those situations where others
would shout so that the person across
from them could hear over the noise.
Just one look at each other and we
already knew what the other was thinking.
