Ch. 6 Ap Psychology: Learning

She went out over the weekend. Broke curfew—approximately an hour late. This is not the first time she disobeyed her parents' requests. Her disappointed parents once again struggle on deciding what to do. Her teacher talked about parenting: Reinforcement always strengthens behavior; punishment weakens it. Punishment reduces the frequency of operant behavior by presenting an unpleasant stimulus or removing a pleasant one. Should she be reinforced? Punished? It's not her fault, she saw her brother do the same thing growing up without consequences. Vicarious experience. Observing the consequences of other people's behavior such as punishment. Bad behavior—no punishment.
