How can an item so dangerous be so calming?
The flame flickers in the air with an amber glow
while she settles down to stop shaking from the same, sad, cold.
Her mind drifting away from the fight and into the flickering light,
sighs met with the slam of a door and a glass clashing onto the floor.
She stares blankly at the candle, finding comfort in the melting wax.
A wave of relaxing content flows through her,
as she lets her eyes close with a silent tear fall.
It’s so sad that she never realized that the candle was too close to the wall.
