Neglect

Neglect is a stray dog

shivering under an overpass

ribs are bulging out of its body, its leg crippled

its fur turned almost as black as its teeth.

The silent moans bring nothing.

Its shriveled tail wrapped up between its legs.

Its eyes bloodshot.
