Why Change?

From the glorious summer months—

to now the dawn of fall.

The once vibrant and alive green leaves,

transform to a lethargic state of gold and orange.

The world becomes a piece of art on a canvas,

as the pigmented leaves frolic and frisk down to the ground.

The new colors intertwine with a somber tone.

The season's transition— it’s inevitable.

Going from being admired by the people beneath you,

to now being beneath them.

To now being the bane of one’s existence.

So why change?

The sound of the moribund leaves,

being stepped on by everyone and anyone echoes for months.

Leaving the trees bare and vulnerable for what’s to come.

So why change?

It’s home is no longer.

The leaves lie decaying with pain and resentment.

People loathe the changing of the seasons.

So why change?
