The blue I carry
A sapphire stone, cold and smooth against my hand.
A jay’s feather slides beside the glowing light.
Denim folds around me, worn, torn, familiar.
My backpack carries pieces of places I've been.
A hairbrush pulls my hair, strand by strand.
The blue clip holds back what I refuse to lose.
Only the globe knows where I'll go.
Headphones hum soft sounds of silence.
My notebook waits, lined with thoughts,I have seemed lost.
A watch ticks on, quiet, calling me forward.
Coffee cools inside my cup as I take a pause.
The highlighter glows over the words I know.
My key clicks against the lock— I can leave. I can enter.
The blueberries burst beneath my teeth, leaving a subtle stain
Painter’s tape stays in place, until I decide to move.
A blue follows me— quietly, completely.
