Stillness of the Frame

The music roars
bouncing off walls.
Heels click,
voices tangle up,
plates clatter,
glass rings,
and camera flashes.
The room spins
with laughter and tears.
Yet a picture frame steadies
against the wall.
Its stillness hums
louder than a song.
Its glass absorbing the chaos.
Corners sharp
and edges rigid.
How can anyone dance?
How can they laugh?
When every sound fractures
against the calm it holds.
All this while I only desire
to see your lively heart.
Yet that quietness radiates from the frame.
Filling the party with a silence
No sound can break.
