Following the rules is easy—

Go on green, stop on red.

Yet a ruby red Mustang 

Blazes past the first stop sign.

Red means stop.

Follow the rules of the road.

Stop on red.

The Mustang headed towards the main road,

Ignoring the 40 MPH sign—

Goes 45…50…60.

A light goes yellow—

Then to red.

The engine roars,

Muting the struggles of the road, begging it to stop.

As it speeds through the tunnel,

The grinding sound bounces off the walls—

Echos ignored by the driver.

Echos heard by the road over and over again.

Past the tunnel

The Mustang finishes its race,

Stopping at its destination.

Marks of burnt rubber—

A reminder.
