Dandelion

After a long, cold winter—
A dandelion appears
Bright, yellow, and brave,
With a strong stem.
It stands by itself in a field.
The birds have returned North.
They start chirping—
Some songs are the same as last year,
Others are fresh, new, and bold,
Music to the ears of—
Awakening hibernators.
The sun is rising—
But it seems… happier.
The cold, gray haze is gone,
Leaving it uncovered, confident—
Brightening the Earth,
With its beaming rays.
It is a little after noon now—
The plants are flowering with petals of vibrant colors.
The leaves of trees are turning green again!
No longer flushed.
Interesting hues are emerging—
All over the field.
Spring has sprung!
The sunshine and wildlife and plants all returned!
…And the dandelion,
Stands tall in the field,
Surrounded by a bettered crowd—
Who had seen its bettered character.
