Bare Bark

The late February tree

stood in the moonlight,

its bare branches,

covering the dead grass.

No leaves to sway in the dull wind.

Just the still silhouette of the nude tree.

As this place, we call home shifts,

the tree adapts, and the buds are eager⸺

to spread their color.
