Asphalt Fossils
Green trees sway by. The sky is a light blue and the road is a dark grey. Cars rush by, their roars getting louder, then quieter. I stare outside the window with my head against the glass. I watch the outside world fly by quietly. Peacefully. The stark white vehicle rushes down the road. Suddenly, a dark stain catches my attention. Two thin strips, darker than dark grey. Parallel, yet
haphazardly twisted. Heading off the road. I hear the crash. The screams. The flashes of life. And yet they, too, slip past the car. And the stark white vehicle continues down the road.
