Stomping on Hope

The oval-shaped aquamarine plant utilizes the necessary nutrients to knock on the concrete and politely ask: “Is the grass really greener on the other side?” When the concrete shakes “yes," the plant’s root bursts through the boundary into a world littered by paper and human beings. The alienated leaf witnesses speeding cars and careless children racing for the sunny van. One of them trips and sees the thriving and self-sufficient plant dancing to the light of the sun. And then carries on. Later that day, a caned man crashes into the plant, giving victory yet again to the great equalizer.
