Like Father like Son

A man fights with his wife. The inconsequential matters of day to day life create a rift. Arguments and hastily spoken words poison the love between them. Remembered memories of his childhood. Of nights spent in his room, pretending not to hear his parents’ yelling. Pretending not to notice the markings, the tears. Feigning ignorance of the failing marriage. He can’t help but think of how similar his situation is to those memories. How the father he despised for being cruel has consumed him, as Cronus consumed his children. Perhaps he may turn on his father’s teachings, as Cronus’ spawn turned on him. Perhaps he may learn to heal instead of hurt.
