A Usual Friday Evening
Three children rush through the door. Mom left a twenty, and they bicker about what to eat. The oldest child decides they will walk to the store. Leading her brothers out the door, they head down the road. She holds the youngest's hand, reminding him to stay out of the street. Ignoring their groans of protest, she says they must get dinner before dessert. They make their journey home as the sun begins to set. Excited to eat, the boys burst through the doors. Their sister stands back, taking a moment to appreciate their independence, and dependence on one another.
