It runs through you suddenly like the shock from a faulty outlet

it's the gust of freezing wind that hits you as you leave the water

outlining where your body ends and the air begins

it's like the wind in the storm that can't decide which direction to blow

pushing the leaves in a spiral towards the grey and bulging clouds

it's like biting into an ice-cream cone

the cold penetrates the casings of your teeth

and grips at your nerves
